Zoe & Sean | Wedding Day | Sandburn Hall
At last! It seems like it was a long time in the planning, and it was, however I actually met Zoe & Sean a few years back on 31st December 2014 when I was part of the filming and photography for Ria & Damian’s wedding.
By this point I felt like I was becoming part of the family! That said, I never take any photography booking for granted. I felt it was only right to give them the time and care to talk through their photography, and to make sure that I was the right person to share their day. Of course, I was over the moon when they said yes.
Zoe & Sean wanted to have a pre-wedding shoot as part of their package (if you’re still unsure on whether or not you should consider this, please see my other blog, here) which is perfect to have yourself a few professional photos together, but also a great opportunity to get to know your photographer (and vice versa) ready for your big day. To be honest, I think I benefitted the most as I had forgotten how tall Sean actually was, so gave me a literal heads up so I knew where and how to photograph in certain situations!
We took some time to shoot down by Spofforth Castle. In typical British fashion, we spent most of our time dodging the rain clouds, taking cover, and in particular for me, climbing up on to the ancient architecture just to get the right shooting angle on to Sean! It’s just as well my fear of heights begins at six foot seven and a half… If you’d like to see some snaps from the day, head over to their blog here!
Time for the big day! Before heading to Sandburn Hall, I met Zoe at the nearby Griffon Forest Lodges. I’ve been here before and remember the superb surroundings, which also reminded me that I have to get myself booked in for a break! The only challenge with the lodges is that there isn’t much window light that I look for during bridal preparations. However, I do like a challenge and I began capturing the moments.
One of the biggest things I enjoyed most about our pre-wedding shoot is that there was a massive sense of fun and humour, nothing serious, with both Zoe and Sean laughing almost constantly. And I mean constantly! To the point where I, on several occasions, lost the ability to take photos because they were laughing so much that it became infectious. It’s the one thing that they carried through to their wedding day, and it made for some great photographic moments. You can see from some of the snaps below that Zoe regularly “lost it”, which in turn set everyone off during their ceremony.
I have to admit that I think I may have crossed the line of humour when I made comment about Sean having lost several golf balls in the nearby water features, as I wasn’t the first to mention it! But that’s enough about that…
It’s safe to say I had a phenomenal time, and it’s clear that Zoe and Sean are made for each other. Here’s a selection of some of my favourite snaps from the day, please feel free to share and comment at the bottom, and thanks for reading!
