Emma & James | Wedding Day | Wood Hall Hotel
Should you have a pre-wedding shoot? It's a good question, and one that (I think) should be given some serious thought.
It's very rare that I meet a couple who are naturally comfortable in front of the camera. It's a subject that brings varying opinion. So should you have one? Well, Emma and James are the perfect example of why it works.
There's often a misconception that a pre-wedding shoot consists of an hour or two of photography before you receive some of your best shots, and this is where it ends. But this is just the bonus!
When I met Emma and James in the Valley Gardens in Harrogate, my camera was kept out of sight. It's a good opportunity to get to know each other, and not just from a photography point of view.
I quickly got to realise that both Emma and James had an exceptional sense of humour. They made me laugh so much that keeping steady enough for photo taking became quite a challenge. But it was all worth it, the photos we managed to capture were perfectly natural. We got to understand each other and most of all, what we could expect for their upcoming wedding day.
Is it worth it? I'll let you decide, but I definitely think so. And, if you're still deciding, take a look at some of my favourites from Valley Gardens here.
The time spent with Emma and James gave us everything we needed to prepare for their big day at Wood Hall Hotel. From the bridal preparations in the morning, through to the first dance, I was made to feel like a friend. The laughs and jokes were flowing throughout, but with a level of professionalism kept at (almost) all times, which made for one of the most enjoyable weddings I've had in a long time.
So, whilst I continue to edit ready for the final gallery, here's a sneak preview of some of my favourite shots from the big day.
